The heated outdoor pool at Wycombe Rye Lido will stay open throughout the year.

The main pool will be heated and it is hoped that the temperature will stay in the high teens or low twenties.

A sauna is also due to be installed at the lido.

Management at the Bassetsbury Lane site have decided to make these changes following the increase in popularity the pool has received in the last few years.

The pool session times will be reviewed monthly in response to daylight hours, weather conditions and customer demand.

In October, from Monday to Friday, outdoor swimming sessions will be between 7am and 8am and 5.30pm and 6.30pm.

On Saturday and Sunday the pool will be open between 11am and 12.30pm.

A new sauna is also due to be installed before Christmas, which will be housed in the pool changing area.

Dan Penn, general manager of Wycombe Rye Lido, said: “We are delighted to offer this new service for our members and users.

“We are hoping that swimmers respond to this decision and come and enjoy the outdoor swimming. The heated pool will be expensive to run so we really need local swimmers to support this initiative.

“Our aim is to keep the pool open throughout the winter, however if we get really cold weather and temperatures below freezing we may be forced to close.”
