Below is the district news for the north west villages, featuring Hughenden Valley, Great Kingshill, Naphill and Walter’s Ash, Lacey Green and Loosley Row, Speen, Bradenham, North Dean and Bryants Bottom.

• Hughenden Valley Allotment and Garden Association’s AGM is this evening at 8pm, followed by refreshments; at Hughenden Valley Village Hall.

• Hughenden Valley Village Hall Conservation Group meet this Sunday November 30 at 10am on the hillside beside the Village Hall. Any help would be appreciated.

• Hughenden Valley Village Hall Committee’s AGM, followed by refreshments will be this coming Monday December 1.

• Valley Friends will be making table decorations this coming Friday December 5 with help from Londer Gray. Members are asked to bring scissors and a candle; every thing else will be provided. Please however bring £5 towards a pack of flowers which will be provided.

• The new Cabin coming soon by Hughenden Valley Shop will need furniture, so there will be furniture painting days on Saturday & Sunday December 6/7, from 10am to 4pm each day. Instructions, paint and refreshments will be provided. Please bring your own overalls or old clothes. If you wish to help please contact 01494 564244 or 563673 

• The Naphill Tennis Club Barn Dance is tonight at 7:30pm and their Festive Tennis will be on Sunday December 7 from 1:30pm, followed by mince pies, tea and cakes.

• Naphill Christmas Gift Fair will be on Saturday December 6 at 1pm. Gift stalls include Beads & Bracelets, Usborne books (several new publications) hand-made jewellery, Karen Elliot decorations, cards, grand raffle, cake raffle, tombolas, mulled wine and mince pies.

• St. John’s Church Lacey Green have had their Christmas Fair. St. John’s C of E School Lacey Green will have their’s on Friday December 5 at 2pm. Stalls will include craft, gifts, rocks and minerals, toys, face painting, Year 6 games, a raffle of Hampers, tombolas, cakes, a secret room for children where they can buy their parents presents, and more. Numerous sponsors have helped to provide gifts for the raffles and are thanked for their help.

• Lacey Green and Loosley Row Tennis Club will have their Christmas Party on Thursday December 4 at The Whip, Pink Road.

• Princes Risborough Christmas Lights will be switched-on on Friday December 5.

• Speen Christmas Tree Lights and Christmas Carols will be on Friday December 5 on the Playing Field. Carols begin at 6pm round the Christmas tree, then everyone will go into the warmth of the Village Hall for mulled wine and mince pies, donated by the Playing Field Association. A collection will be made for a heart charity. Young and old are welcome.

• Lastly, Christmas at Hughenden Manor. Daily throughout December (except 24/25 December) the rooms in the Manor will be decorated in Victorian style to a background of carols, musicians, and Father Christmas at weekends. From Friday 26th to Wednesday 31st, and from 11am to 4pm each day there will be a Christmas themed trail around the formal garden, which local children enjoy.
