Firefighters have tackled a second blaze in High Wycombe today.

Fire ripped through a house on Micklefield Road this evening, causing severe damage to the ground floor and the first floor.

Three fire engines from High Wycombe and one from Beaconsfield were called to the scene at 7.16pm.

The fire crews used two hose reels, four sets of breathing apparatus, a turntable ladder and a PPV (positive pressure ventilation) fan to put the fire out.

A man suffering from the effects of smoke inhalation was given oxygen at the scene.

A member of the public spotted the fire and got the occupant out of the house safely.

This is the second fire in High Wycombe today.

A property in Arnison Avenue was left badly damaged after fire swept through a flat this morning at 9.32am.

Whilst the causes of this evening’s fire are still unclear, it has since been confirmed that this morning’s blaze started after clothes were left to dry on or too near a portable electric heater.

Councillor Julia Wassell, representative of Bowerdean ward, took to Facebook to praise the fire service for their ‘fantastic’ work today.
