A candlelit vigil was held in Frogmoor at the weekend to mark the horrifying killing of more than 140 people - mostly schoolchildren – in Pakistan.
Organised by the Mayor of High Wycombe, Councillor Khalil Ahmed, about 150 people turned out the day after Boxing Day in the town to speak and pray for the friends and relatives of all struck by the heinous act, while a book of condolences has also been started.
Mayor Ahmed said: “We were all really pleased to see so many people join us for the vigil.
“I think a lot of people recognised this was not just a loss to the Pakistani community, it was a huge loss to the world.
“It doesn’t matter about race or religion, many parents and families felt for those in Pakistan and I think that is why so many joined on the two evenings.”
A book of condolences was signed by many on the second vigil and Mayor Ahmed has invited more people to sign it before he hopes to take it to Pakistan and possibly visit Peshawar.
If you would like to sign the book, you can find it in the main reception of the WDC offices.
