Residents of a Holmer Green house used glasses of water to extinguish a fire caused by a stray sky lantern after it landed on the roof of their home in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Bucks Fire and Rescue Service were alerted to the fire, which happened at about 1am.
A crew from High Wycombe went to Beech Tree Road after the sky lantern landed on a two-storey house.
Bucks Fire and Rescue Service tweeted that the occupants of the house extinguished the fire using glasses of water.
Firefighters issued safety advice upon arrival.
The incident happened just hours after firefighters issued a safety warning surrounding the use of sky lanterns.
