Worried residents who witnessed the horrific moment a car, with a woman and two children inside, crashed through a wall and plummeted 20 feet, want the road to be gritted when ice is expected.

Earlier this week a red Citroen fell about 20ft into a garden after it skidded on ice and crashed through a wall in Hunters Hill, Micklefield, at about 7.30am on Tuesday.

Hunters Hill was closed for more than two hours as emergency crews tried to make the road safe and prevent other cars from skidding.

Paramedics were quick to arrive on the scene and were able to reach the woman and two children by going through the back gardens of two properties in Micklefield Road where the car landed.

South Central Ambulance Service confirmed she was taken to Wexham Park Hospital with possible neck and back injuries, while the children were treated for minor injuries and shock.

But, some residents have now highlighted the dangers of the road and called on Transport for Bucks to include it on their gritting routes.

Describing the morning of the crash, Nabeela Rana - a carer who has lived on the road for 11 years - asked if it was time to grit the road when ice is expected.

She said: “When I got down there everybody was racing down, all the neighbours had come out to see what they could do to help.

“All we saw was the car and one of the paramedics was tending to the woman who I think had been driving it.

“In the 11 years I have been here I have never seen anything like this, but every time it snows we worry about that road.

“Most people who know what it can be like, and are expecting snow, tend to park on the main road now.”

Transport for Bucks spokesman Dan Elworthy said: “There are no plans to include Hunters Hill on to our gritting routes. “Salt bins are provided by parish and district councils for use by drivers and pedestrians to treat localised icy conditions.

“Salt from these bins is solely for the use on the public roads and pavements and should not be removed for private use.”

He also said TfB advice on how to drive to the conditions of the road can be found on www.transportforbucks.net/Winter-maintenance/Winter-driving-tips.aspx

Following the crash, onlookers said they heard the woman scream, and then saw her being “dragged along” by the car before being thrown onto the bricks below.

Neal Deville, 44, was looking out of a window in his flat in Hunters Hill when he noticed the car sliding off the road.

He said: “I saw the car coming down and the wheels had locked when she was skidding on the ice.

“It kept moving and she came out of the car and put her foot out trying to slow the car down, but that didn’t work.

“Then she had both feet out, she was being dragged along by the car but by then the car had bumped up onto the pavement [and] hit the wall.

“The car went over the drop straight down and she went over on top of it, she was holding onto the door screaming, as her kids were in it at the time.”

The woman’s current condition has not been confirmed by the authorities.
