Chinnor Village Hall was reopened in style with a special guest appearance from Nicholas Parsons on Saturday.

The opening celebration saw visitors from as far as Oxford turn up to celebrate the completion of the refurbishment with the actor and presenter.

After Nicholas cut the ribbon, visitors were treated to tasty cakes and biscuits made by Cringles Cakes and talented young musician, Billy Watman, provided entertainment on stage.

The main hall has undergone a complete transformation and now has a brand new stage, dressing rooms with their own toilets and new heating and wiring.

The project began on November 23 last year and the finishing touches were made on January 23.

Chairman of the village hall, Robin Williams said: “Nicholas is an absolute legend  and I am absolutely delighted that he’s come today. He’s a lovely man who has taken time out of his day to come and support us.

“I’d like to say thank you to everyone who helped us raise the funds to make the refurbishment happen and to our builders, Saunders Brothers, who completed the project on time and under budget.”

Nicholas took time out of the ceremony to provide a video message for BFP readers.

He said: “It’s wonderful to see such a wonderful, vibrant village atmosphere. There was a big crowd, they were warm and enthusiastic and up for all the jokes I gave them. Chinnor is an exceptional village with some lovely people.”
