A residents’ action group have urged people to get involved in the fight against a controversial planning development in Saunderton.

The Molins Action Group (MAG) met with residents to make them aware of the potential scale of the housing plans submitted by St Congar Land for the former Molins Site in Haw Lane, Saunderton.

Over 100 residents gathered at Bledlow Ridge Village Hall on Tuesday, March 24 to listen to the group, which is formed of residents and Councillor Carl Etholen.

The group outlined St Congar Land’s plans for phase one of the development, which will see the construction of 212 houses on brownfield site, as well as the potential phases two and three, which could see up to 1000 houses in total on the Molins and surrounding greenbelt land.

MAG member Tristan Fisher said: “If you don’t want Molins one to happen, it’s vitally important that you actually do something and the actually doing something is writing letters.”

Peter Smith, a Bledlow Ridge resident for 12 years and MAG member, described the plans as “complicated and insidious”.

Suggestions were made that the site could instead be used to house a residential village for elderly people, or return the site back to employment use.

Mr Smith said: “From our point of view, we don’t like [St Congar Land’s] plan but we’re not against all housing as such.

“We wanted to get all the information together and let people know what is going on, whether they are for or against the development.

“People must comment on the plans if they disagree with them, but they must be able to base their comments on fact, not gossip and hearsay.”

Residents can send their comments on the plan to Wycombe District Council until April 10.
