A NEW Ealing Comedy filmed in West London is released this month.

I Want Candy, made by Ealing Studios, stars Hollywood pin-up Carmen Electra and British actors including Michelle Ryan (of EastEnders fame), Mackenzie Crook, from Pirates Of The Caribbean and The Office, and Jimmy Carr.

It was shot last year in Ealing and neighbouring borough Hillingdon.

Producer of the film and owner of Ealing Studios, Barnaby Thompson, told The Ealing Times: "It's good to keep it local. Being Ealing Studios we really like to film as much as possible in the local area.

"We are essentially making a film about the making of a film."

The story follows two naive young men who stumble upon the opportunity of a lifetime. Frustrated by their arty film teacher (Mackenzie Crook), wannabe producer Joe (Tom Riley) and his talented but neurotic director friend Baggy (Tom Burke) head to London to sell what they know is a script made of gold.

Encountering nothing but closed doors, their luck changes when an equally desperate producer (Eddie Marsan) is willing to throw some money at them provided they nab the star he needs. There is just one problem - the star is porn legend Candy Fiveways (Carmen Electra).

Against all odds they manage to secure her services, but it is not long before trouble inevitably heads their way.

The Ealing Studios were bought in 2000 by Mr Thompson, Uri Fruchtmann, Harry Handelsman and John Kao, and returned to film-making after 43 years with the release of The Importance of Being Earnest.

They are forever associated with the Ealing Comedies of the 1940s and 1950s including The Lavender Hill Mob, The Ladykillers and Kind Hearts and Coronets.

I Want Candy opens nationwide on March 23.
