Building work is set to start on a new manse after a turf cutting ceremony this week.

A ceremony to mark the start of the work in the grounds of Hyde Heath Baptist Chapel took place on Thursday, March 26.

Church Elder Rev Basil Howlett cut the first piece of turf during the ceremony, which had been preceded by a service led by Dr Philip Woodley at the 18th century chapel, in Brays Lane.

A manse is a clergy house inhabited by a church minister, and it is hoped a pastor will be appointed ready to live at the new building in the autumn.
