Controversial plans for a waste transfer station in Amersham have been amended after residents and councillors spoke out.

FCC Environment has submitted their latest documents to Buckinghamshire County Council in response to questions and comments received during the planning process for a Waste Transfer Station at London Road East.

Initial plans were ‘strongly opposed’ by district councillors in November last year with some saying there was no exceptional circumstances for redeveloping the green belt site.

The proposed transfer station would receive household and some commercial and industrial waste collected in the Chiltern District and part of the South Bucks District.

It would then be transferred onto larger vehicles and transported to the 'Energy from Waste' site at Greatmoor in the north of the county, which is currently under construction.

Now members of the public will have a chance to look over the update proposal.

Rachel Jones, BCC planning and enforcement team leader, said: “The submission of amended documents has been made in response to questions and comments from statutory consultees, members of the public and the planning authority, which in this case is the county council.

“There will now be a further public consultation period of 21 days, during which time, these amended documents can be reviewed and further comments made, prior to determination by the planning development control committee.”

The amended documents can be viewed on the BCC website at publicaccess.buckscc.gov.uk/online-applications/applicationDetails.do?activeTab=documents&keyVal=NB0PG4DS02P00

Anyone who wishes to make representations about the amended documents in particular should email dcplanning@buckscc.gov.uk.

Alternatively, comments can be submitted by post, quoting reference number CM/59/14.

BCC say there is no need to re-submit comments already made, as these have already been logged and are being considered as part of the determination of the application.

For clarification, the County Council also said it will continue to accept comments on the amended documents until May 7 to ensure everyone has sufficient time to make their views known.

It is anticipated that the application will be presented to the Development Control Committee at a meeting on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at which public speaking is permitted.

If you wish to speak, you must register by 10am on Friday, May 22, 2015, by contacting Democratic Services on 01296 383603 or emailing publicspeaking@buckscc.gov.uk.
