War veterans, serving military, religious leaders and community figures will gather in High Wycombe tomorrow to commemorate the centenary of one of the bloodiest campaigns in the First World War.

Royal British Legion’s ANZAC centenary will mark 100 years since the Gallipoli landings, alongside similar events across the country this weekend.

It takes place at Wycombe Hospital from 11.45am.

Wreaths will be laid and a roll of honour will be read for each of the men from High Wycombe who died in the battles.

Among the wreath layers will be the Mayor of High Wycombe Khalil Ahmed, RBL branch chairmn Kevin Taylor and the Bucks Free Press’s Mike Dewey.

Rev. Hugh Ellis will speak at the service, before the Last Post is sounded.

Over 130,000 peole died in the campaign from 1915-16, with 45,000 Allied forces and 86,000 from Turkey losing their lives.

They included around 25,000 British military, 10,000 from France and 10,000 from Australia and New Zealand.
