Travellers have set up camp on a car park opposite an upmarket health club in Marlow.

Around 12 caravans and other vehicles are camped on car park land near the Marlow Club on Fieldhouse Lane.

The car park is the vacant former offices of Cobham Systems, which has now relocated elsewhere on the industrial estate.

Globe Park business park manager Ronnie Fleming told the BFP that travellers had occupied the Volvo House land on the Parkway until Monday, when they were moved on by police.

He said the group then moved to the current location directly opposite the health club, where members pay up to £88 a month.

Mr Fleming said: “The ingress of travellers is an issue, most businesses have their sites secure and it is very important to keep the sites secure.

“I am sure the police will take appropriate action.”

The site is understood to be under lease from Cobham.

Wycombe District Council has offered its assistance, though it says it does not own the land in question.

Police said they issued a section 61 removal order to move the group from the Parkway site earlier this week.

And Sgt Robin Hughes at Marlow Police station said another order has been issued alongside the landowner, with the group required to leave the spot by 12 noon tomorrow.
