MP Dominic Grieve said his Marlow constituency is “the most joyous place to represent” as he raised a glass to the community at the Mayor’s Annual Reception on Saturday.

The Conservative, who was asked to lead a toast at the reception, spoke of his love for the town in front of an assembled audience of dignitaries from across the area.

He said: “There is something special about it. I think it’s probably based on the fact that it has a history which is an ancient one and a sense of community that goes with it.

“But all I can say to you is that I find myself mighty privileged to be its representative in parliament.”

The recently re-elected MP gave his speech at Mayor Bob Johnson’s reception at Court Garden House in Marlow’s Higginson Park.

The MP – who only inherited Marlow in his constituency after boundary changes before the 2010 election – thanked residents for putting their confidence in him at the election after he knocked on doors throughout the town in the lead up the the vote.
