UPDATE: police name woman found dead in lay-by.

A dead woman found in a lay-by yesterday morning was aged in her thirties, police have confirmed as they continue their murder investigation.

A passing motorist discovered the woman’s body in the A413 Amersham Road, in Gerrards Cross, at about 8.30am with detectives later confirming they had launched a murder investigation.

A 50-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday and he remains in custody.

Police say that no identification has been made and a post mortem is being carried out today.

The A413 was closed throughout yesterday as forensic teams carried out investigations in the lay-by. It was re-opened yesterday evening.

“We are in the very early stages of our investigation. I would like to speak to anyone who has any information about this incident or who may have seen anything out of the ordinary in the area - please call 101 as soon as possible."

She added: "We are working with the Highways Agency to minimise disruption in the area. A scene watch remains in place.

“Officers from the local Neighbourhood Team are making house to house enquiries and patrolling locally to provide reassurance. If anyone has any concerns, please feel free to approach an officer.”
