New environmentally friendly buses have taken to the roads in High Wycombe after an official launch on Friday.

Bus company Carousel has introduced the new ultra green buses on its A40 route from High Wycombe, through Beaconsfield, Gerrards Cross, Uxbridge and Heathrow.

The WrightBus StreetLite buses have the latest engines which aim to cut emissions and reduce fuel consumption.

Carousel Buses’ managing director, Phil Southall, said: “They also employ a cutting-edge ‘micro-hybrid’ system, where power generated from regenerative braking is used to operate on-board electrical systems like the temperature controls and lights which improves fuel efficiency.

“We are delighted we’ve been able to invest in British-built vehicles.”

The new buses, two of which have taken to the roads already, before three more join them at the end of the year, are part of an investment of around £850,000 into providing better services.

The new vehicles were launched at Wycombe Bus Station on Friday, July 31 by Phil Southall and bus driver Geoff Lovejoy.
