A High Wycombe police chief has aimed to reassure members of the public after a man was stabbed to death in the town centre.

UPDATE: Three people charged in connection with murder.

Deputy Wycombe LPA commander, chief inspector Rebecca Mears, said the killing was of “great shock and sorrow to our community”.

Four people remain in police custody today following the death of a man in High Wycombe town centre on Saturday, with investigations being carried out by the Major Crime Unit.

Chief inspector Mears visited the town centre, where flowers and tributes have been left, to speak to residents today and thanked members of the public and businesses for their continued support as investigations continue in the busy shopping area.

Officers were called to All Saints Church in Church Street at approximately 8.50pm on Saturday to reports that a man had been stabbed.

The ambulance service also attended and the victim, who is yet to be formally identified but is thought to be aged in his twenties, was declared deceased at the scene.

Chief inspector Mears said: “A man very sadly lost his life in High Wycombe on Saturday.

“Four people have been arrested and remain in police custody as investigations continue.

“We are fortunate that crime is generally low in High Wycombe. An incident such as this is of great shock and sorrow to our community.”

She added: “I would also ask that anyone who has any information about what has happened to contact police via the 24-hour 101 number as soon as possible.”

The four people have been arrested and are currently in police custody. They are a 36-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, both from Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, and two 37-year-old men from Ealing, London.
