Firefighters tackled a blaze at a Indian restaurant in Beaconsfield yesterday morning caused by a fire in the external laundry room.

The fire occured in a 10x8m space at the back of the Spice Merchant restaurant in London End.

Bucks Fire confirmed they received nine calls between 6.41am and 6.51am from members of the public informing them of the fire which they originally thought was a "single-storey exterior cooking area".

Three different crews attended the incident and firefighters were able to extinguish the flames having gained access to the premisis via Yew Tree Close.

The restaurant has reiterated they are still open for business as usual because the fire did not affect any part of the main building.

Neil Bressington of Bucks Fire and Rescue Service said: "This was a very difficult area to access.

"I am very proud of the speed at which the firefighters we able to bring the fire under control."

Reports suggest that a shed was next to the laundry room was also damaged in the blaze.

Bucks Fire confirmed no one was injured in the incident.
