A British construction and infrastructure company has completed work on a new £16.5 million education centre in Aylesbury.

Morgan Sindall plc has just finished work on the four-storey centre, which was built for and funded by Aylesbury Vale District Council, with the aim of merging education space with a new public square.

From November, the building will be used by University Campus Aylesbury Vale (UCAV) – a partnership between Aylesbury Collegeand Buckinghamshire Education, Skills and Training (BEST).

The campus will be leased to BEST, an educational partnership formed by Aylesbury College and Buckinghamshire New University.

BEST, which will fund the fit-out of the building and manage its operation, is a separate company operating alongside the two institutions and provides a vehicle to pool the partners’ leadership, industry links and expertise, enabling them to deliver a broad range of educational opportunities to meet the region’s education and skills needs.

The campus’ initial portfolio of degree level courses and professional development programmes is geared towards the needs of the local business community, offering specialist short courses in information security, organisational resilience, risk management, digital forensics and project management.

Ian Harper, General Manager of University Campus Aylesbury Vale, said: “We are very excited to see the building in its final stages of construction. Walking around the new campus, it is a striking addition to the Waterside area and inside, it is an impressive and professional learning environment for the region’s students and businesses to enjoy.

“We look forward to welcoming people to the campus from November.”
