Two teenage boys were seriously injured in what Police are calling a ‘firearm incident’ in Burnham Park yesterday evening.

At 6.40PM police received a report that two boys, one 15 and the other 17, had been assaulted in parkland off Stomp Road in Burnham.

Officers attended the scene where they whey discovered the boys with injuries believed to be caused by a discharged firearm.

They were both taken to hospital with serious leg injuries. The 17-year-old boy also sustained hand injuries.

Both remain in hospital in a stable condition where they are receiving treatment but neither of the boy’s injuries are thought to be life threatening.

A Crimewatch scene remains in place in the park while officers carry out enquiries and examine the scene.

Officers are continuing to carry out their enquiries and would like to speak to anyone with information, in particular people who were in the south west area of the park, close to Priory Road at the junction with Stomp Road, between 6pm and 6.40pm yesterday (October 25).

Supt Yvette Hitch, LPA Commander for Chiltern and South Buckinghamshire, said: “This is clearly a very serious incident which has inevitably caused a great deal of concern among the local community, especially given the age of the two victims.

"I would like to reassure residents in Burnham and the wider area that we are investigating thoroughly and, while the incident is shocking and distressing, I would like to emphasise that we do not believe this was a random attack.

“We have taken steps to increase patrols in the local area and if anyone in the local community has any concerns, they can either speak to their local neighbourhood police team or contact us via 101.”
