A Marlow primary school held an environmentally friendly themed week in a bid to achieve a national accolade.
St Peter's Catholic School, on Prospect Road kicked off eco week on Monday, October 21 as part of its journey towards achieving eco school status – a national award that recognises eco-friendly schools.
Staff and children were visited by the waste team at Bucks County Council and the Wildlife Trust, who discussed different ways the school could be made more environmentally friendly.
And after just 5 weeks the St Peter's took the next step in achieving the national recognition by scooping its bronze award.
Deputy head teacher and eco leader, Jennifer Boyle said: “It’s great and really impressive we got our bronze award after just 5 weeks. We are now setting our sights on getting the silver award so will hopefully have that by spring time.
“They have all really enjoyed it. Children are better at turning off lights and parents have been commenting about how enthusiastic they are about it.
“It’s going to affect the way parents think about being eco-friendly as well.”
And to round off the week the children dressed up as bees and sold bee themed cupcakes raising £47 to go towards the redevelopment of the school garden.
