Waitrose has started a search for up to 100 employees as bosses announce plans to open their new High Wycombe store in early spring next year.

The new 25,000 sq ft shop is being built as part of the Handy Cross Hub project which will include the new Wycombe Leisure Centre, a coachway park-and-ride, and a hotel.

The company are now advertising for full and part-time job positions at the store ahead of the grand opening next year.

Branch manager Paul Taylor said: “We have been overwhelmed by the interest in our arrival in High Wycombe. Everyone concerned has done a fantastic job getting our new home ready and we cannot wait to move in.

“We want to get the branch absolutely right to welcome our new customers and will start our works in the New Year to allow the new leisure centre to open and give our team time to bed in.

“We are proud to be making a significant new investment as part of the Handy Cross Hub project which will revitalise an important site and make a positive contribution to the area in the future.”

New job roles will include sales assistants, customer service, hospitality and service counter positions and drivers to carry out home deliveries.

Cllr Roger Wilson, Wycombe District Council’s cabinet member for economic development and regeneration, said: “Up to 100 new jobs and a wider choice for shoppers are just two of the fantastic benefits that a Waitrose store in High Wycombe offers.

“I have no doubt that when it opens, it will be a very popular store with local residents and will complement the wider development of the Handy Cross Hub site perfectly.”
