A charity concert is being held in High Wycombe and is being conducted by the man who arranged the wedding fanfare for Prince William and Kate Middleton, writes Komal Shakil.

The charity concert will be held at the Godstowe Preparatory school, In Amersham Hill, High Wycombe, on December 19 and will be led by Wing Commander Duncan Stubbs.

The concert, Christmas Crackers, will run from 7-9pm and will consist of classical music linking to the festive theme. The event is being held in support for the South Bucks Hospice who are ‘thrilled and delighted’ by the presence of Wing Commander Stubbs, the Director of music for the Royal Air Force.

The Wing Commander is recognised due to his 30-second piece titled ‘Valiant and Brave’ which was one of the first sounds trumpeted after the royals signed the register in April 2011, he was also responsible for directing the eight-piece band on the day.

He said: "I have been working with the Bucks Symphonic Wind Ensemble for over 25 years and it’s always been a very enjoyable and rewarding experience. They are a great bunch of people and I am very much looking forward to the concert in High Wycombe.”

Jo Woolf, Chief Executive Officer for the Hospice, also added: "We are absolutely thrilled and delighted that a conductor of this calibre has agreed to perform at this concert, and we are all looking forward to what promises to be a great evening which will ultimately benefit patients with life-limiting illnesses. Our thanks goes to Wing Commander Stubbs and the Bucks Symphonic Wind Ensemble for agreeing to do this for us."

The tickets for the event can be purchased from the Hospice or on the night, the tickets for adults are £12, £10 concessions, and under 16s are free. All profits raised will go to the hospice, for more information contact the fundraising office at South Bucks Hospice: 01494 464045 or call Andre on 07738739504.
