Actress Rula Lenska helped raise over £15,000 for a south Bucks animal charity at their Christmas market last weekend.

Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, which relies entirely on donations to continue its work, held the annual two-day event at their training centre in Saunderton.

The event included Christmas-themed activities and stalls, carols from the Handy Voices Signing Choir and a variety of prizes including a Honda Vision scooter worth £1,800.

Ms Lenska, who's notably TV acting credits include Minder and Footballers' Wives, said: "I lost my hearing many years ago, and it’s really important to raise awareness of hearing loss, and the feelings of isolation and loss of confidence that deafness so often brings.

"I was delighted to attend the Christmas Market with my family, and am so pleased that the event has raised over £15,000.

"I’ve been involved with Hearing Dogs for years, and am always amazed at how these wonderful, clever dogs are trained to change the lives of deaf people.

"All funds raised will help the Charity to train more adorable puppies, to change the lives of severely and profoundly deaf people across the UK."
