A man was found dead in the toilets of a High Wycombe pub yesterday.

Staff attempted to resuscitate the customer after he was found collapsed in a toilet cubicle at Wetherspoon-owned The William Robert Loosley, in Oxford Road.

It is the second time in seven months that a customer has died in the pub, after an elderly man choked on food while eating a meal there in August last year.

The pub was closed last night following the incident, with staff now paying tribute to the man.

Wetherspoon spokesman Eddie Gershon said: “We pass on our condolences to the family and friends of the man.”

The customer was found collapsed in the toilet cubicle by staff conducting a check of the area.

Mr Gershon said: “The duty manager and other staff member followed advice from the paramedics on the phone and performed CPR for 20 minutes.

“The paramedics then arrived and took over and the man was then transferred to hospital by ambulance.

“The pub remained closed during this time and it was felt that it was not appropriate to reopen it last night.”

The man’s details have not yet been confirmed by the authorities.

Last year, an elderly man died in the pub after he began to choke on food while having a meal out with his wife.

Despite the best efforts of staff he sadly passed away, with family members later praising those who tried to help him.

Wetherspoon put The William Robert Loosley up for sale last year in a bid to focus attentions on High Street pub The Falcon, but took it off the market in January.
