Due to “severely limited” development opportunities in Marlow, a section of land looks likely to be taken out of the town’s greenbelt to make way for 300 homes for the area.

It has been revealed in the new draft Local Plan that a slice of land near Seymour Court Road is set to be removed from the greenbelt, and Oak Tree Road could also suffer as the council investigates developing the northern end of the road in to houses.

Development in Marlow is problematic according to the council, due to the large area around the town covered by the Thames flood plain and AONB.

The new plan has also reignited fears for the Wycombe Air Park, with campaigners claiming the potential development plans may just be a snapshot of a bigger project for the site.

The greenbelt review has been ongoing over a number of years and a handful of sites were recommended by an outside body to be used for development.

WDC is now exploring which of these sites could be released in the future which is expected to equate to 0.5% of all the greenbelt in the district.

According to the council, the air park land will be used for light industrial development with a view to create hundreds of jobs.
