Jewellery was stolen from an elderly couple’s home in High Wycombe by hammer and screwdriver-wielding thugs on Thursday (July 28).

The jewellery, described by police as “Asian”, included gold bracelets, gold bangles, a necklace, earrings and rings, and was taken in an aggravated burglary from the home of an 81-year-old man and 71-year-old woman in Totteridge Lane.

Between around 7.30pm and 7.40pm, someone knocked on the door of the couple’s house. When the woman went to answer the door, she was confronted by a man who said he needed to get into the property.

He then forced his way into the house followed by two other men who forcibly removed jewellery from the woman’s wrist, ears and neck.

They also demanded money from the man, who handed over cash from his wallet.

The thugs then threatened the couple with a hammer and screwdriver before searching the rest of the property and leaving the scene on foot.

The woman needed medical treatment, having sustained a broken toe and bruising to her right knee, right foot and left arm during the attack.

In total, six gold bracelets, three gold bangles, a necklace with a pendant, earrings and rings were taken.

Investigating officer, PC Hannah Davison of Local CID based at High Wycombe police station, said: “This was a despicable attack on two elderly victims in their own home, a place where you should feel most safe.

“We are making this urgent appeal because we need your help to find the perpetrators and return the jewellery to the victims who have been left very shaken by this incident.”
