UPDATE: Traveller service visits the camp site

Travellers are still camping in High Wycombe after moving into the area on Monday evening.

The group moved onto Wycombe District Council-owned land on Totteridge Lane, near to the Beech Tree Pub.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing around 15 caravans leaving the M40 at junction 3 (Loudwater) at around 8pm on August 15.

Between 15 and 20 caravans are now spread out across the grass area on Totteridge Lane, with young children spotted running around.

WDC confirmed they have not asked the travellers to leave but are working with the Oxon and Bucks gypsy and traveller service who are overseeing the situation on their behalf.

Police are also aware of the camp but said on Tuesday morning that no request has yet been made to them to leave.

On Twitter, a concerned resident said travellers previously "trashed Widmer End United" leaving "human waste" on the pitches and asked police to stop that happening again.

Police responded by reassuring residents that they give out 'code of conduct' leaflets "detailing how we expect the land to be left."

More information as we get it.
