The head of creative at internet giant Google will be among several high profile alumni and guests to be awarded honorary degrees at Bucks New University .

Bucks New Uni success story Olivier Rabenschlag is now based in Los Angeles having graduated in 2002 with a first class degree in Graphic Design and Advertising, and will receive an honorary master’s for his outstanding national and international achievements.

England’s most senior nurse in the NHS, chief nursing officer Jane Cummings, will be given an honorary doctorate, having worked closely with the university on care initiatives.

Other figures being recognised include James Grieve, joint artistic director of Paines Plough, the UK’s national theatre of new plays and executive director at the Business Continuity Institute, Lorraine Darke.

All will receive their awards during a week of graduation celebrations at Buckinghamshire New University over the coming days.

Professor Rebecca Bunting, vice-chancellor, said: "We are proud and honoured to bestow these honorary awards.

“Our awardees are chosen in recognition of their outstanding achievements in their fields and because they are an inspiration to our graduating students. We are delighted to recognise such a celebrated group of individuals this year.”
