A popular playground at Hughenden Park is set to receive a £168,000 makeover.

The play area will be given a new forest theme as part of Wycombe District Council’s rolling playground upgrade programme, which included a consultation with almost 350 children.

The youngsters, aged between two and six, told the council what equipment they would like, as well as picking the theme.

The council also received responses from a further 143 residents who live near the play area after it was identified for an upgrade by the council.

Cllr Julia Adey, Wycombe District Council’s cabinet member for community, said: “A forest-themed play area is a fantastic idea and I am sure children will have a great time climbing, swinging and jumping around on the new equipment when the upgrade has been completed.

“Thank you to all the children, Hamilton Academy pupils and residents who took part in our consultation. This work is part of Wycombe District Council’s commitment to improving the lives of young residents.”

The council has released £168,000 from its Facilities for Young People Capital Fund to pay for the work, which is expected to begin on the refurbishment early in the new year.
