A man from Slough has been fined more than £1,000 for fly-tipping in Burnham.

Stuart Lee Thomas, 34, of Kingsley Path, pleaded guilty to the offence, saying he had made a “stupid mistake”.

He was caught on camera dumping a mattress and carpet at what has been described by Bucks County Council bosses as a “fly-tip hot-spot”, in Allerds Road.

When interviewed, he admitted to dumping the rubbish and said he had been persuaded to take the waste for a customer.

He said he regretted his actions.

He was fined £400, ordered to pay clean-up and prosecution costs of £863 and a victim surcharge of £40, a total of £1,303, at High Wycombe Magistrates Court on September 14.

Cllr Mike Smith, chairman of the waste partnership for Buckinghamshire, said: “Household waste must be disposed of legally and responsibly.

“It is totally unacceptable to dump rubbish.

“I hope this latest prosecution sends out a stark warning to anyone contemplating dumping waste illegally that we will take legal action whenever possible.”
