Business students at Amersham & Wycombe College were in for a treat as Storage Hunters star Sean Kelly visited the college yesterday (Wednesday) for an “inspirational” speech.

The TV presenter spoke to students about entrepreneurship, detailing his own experiences of serving in the army, then selling t-shirts for a living and making a $3,500 profit in three days, and finally, making his name on the American TV show.

He told students his “ultimate ambition” was to get on TV with his own programme, so he came up with the concept of Storage Hunters and learnt the ropes on auctioneering from a past master.

He then sold the idea to an American TV network and Storage Hunters was born.

Answering questions about the show, one student asked Sean if he had ever found anything illegal or stolen in a container once opened.

Sean revealed one buyer had discovered 24kg of cocaine stashed away, but instead of informing the police, he had tried to offload it, earning him a “lengthy” time behind bars.

Talking about his entrepreneurial journey, Sean said: “Failures are absolutely vital because they show you are doing things people just don’t have the guts to do.

“Learn from your mistakes, pay for the best advice you can get, set your personal goals – the things you really want – and always research your project well.”

Excited students posed for selfies with the comic, who happily obliged.
