A second defibrillator has been installed in Beaconsfield, which anyone can use to provide emergency medical treatment, thanks to fundraising efforts by the town’s Women’s Institute.
Mayor Patrick Hogan launched the life-saving equipment at Beaconsfield Library last Saturday (January 14), after the WI raised £1,200 to purchase it, in collaboration with the town council.
Speaking after the Mayor, WI President Deb Sanders stressed the importance of the devices in saving lives.
WI committee members Anne Shaw and Steve Hadley, who cut the ribbon, were the “driving force” behind the fundraising, the institute said.
Chairman of the community safety committee, Anita Cranmer, thanked the WI for its “valuable work” in spearheading the campaign to install more defibrillators across the town.
Commenting on the need for general training in resuscitation techniques, she said the town council would be holding a second session on Saturday, February 11, following a “highly successful” event last September.
