Comedian Russell Brand is set to return to High Wycombe with a new tour this year after testing material for the show on audiences last year.

The outspoken celebrity will take to the stage at Wycombe Swan on June 21 for Re:Birth, a show in which he will reflect on fatherhood, question what is real and “who we are”, as well as “unravelling the matrix of modern media, politics, sex, fatherhood and death”.

This is his first full tour since welcoming a daughter with fiancée Laura Gallacher two months ago, although he performed a series of sold-out preview shows in November and December.

The Henley-on-Thames resident tested material for the tour at the Old Town Hall in May and June last year in front of a small crowd of a few hundred people, where he confirmed rumours he was set to become a father for the first time.

He reportedly said “I’m having one of those”, when speaking to High Wycombe audience members about babies, and put BFP news stories under the spotlight.

Speaking about Re:Birth, he said: “How do we make sense of the madness of our lives once we become parents?

“What am I going to tell my daughter about conformity and responsibility?

“What happens if she grows up to be like me or, worse, date someone like me?”

Rising to fame in 2003, the 41-year-old has established himself as one of the world’s most celebrated stand-up comedians.

His tours include 2006’s Shame, 2007’s Only Joking, 2009’s Scandalous, which marked his US live debut, and 2013’s critically acclaimed Messiah Complex, which was also a best-selling DVD.

He is also a successful broadcaster, actor, author, podcaster, columnist, political commenter and a mental health and drug rehabilitation activist.

Tickets for Re:Birth go on sale at 10am on Friday, February 3. For more information, or to buy tickets, go to http://russellbrand.seetickets.com/tour/russell-brand.
