A Latimer nursery has been recognised as ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted after being previously rated as ‘good’.

Staff and parents at Old MacDonald’s Day Nursery, in Latimer Camp Road, were celebrating after being awarded the highest rating Ofsted offers, with owner and MD Mandy Selwood saying staff were “over the moon” with the result.

She said: “I’m so happy we received outstanding from Ofsted, as with the changes to the Common Inspection Framework we know how difficult it can be to achieve.

“This is the highest accolade and this award shows our passion for childcare, and that this is not just a business.”

Inspectors praised the effectiveness of the leadership and management, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment, personal development, behaviour and welfare of the children, as well as outcomes for children, saying staff were “exceptionally caring” and the management team maintained “excellent standards of care”.

Ms Selwood added: “I know that since we opened the staff have been working tirelessly to provide outstanding provision, and we are so happy that this has been recognised.

“We have incredible support from our families that have sent well wishes before and after the inspection.

“Regardless of the grading we will strive to go above and beyond for the children in our care.

“The staff are over the moon. We are so pleased and know that although we can always improve, our team is strong, conscientious and always striving for outstanding care and practice.”
