A church pastor has lashed out at the RAF after it was announced serving women could be banned from wearing skirts while on parade, to be more inclusive to transgender personnel.

Pastor Peter Simpson, minister of Penn Free Methodist Church, said that the RAF should have “better things to do than promoting the political correctness of the LGBT lobby” and called the proposal a “further capitulation to the never-ending LGBT assault upon the Christian basis of our civilisation”.

He said: “It is part of our culture that women often wear skirts, particularly in more formal situations.

“Their dress is different from that of men, quite simply because men and women are different.

“Far from being just a minor matter, this RAF proposal represents a further capitulation to the never-ending LGBT assault upon the Christian basis of our civilisation.

“The transgender agenda is just the latest manifestation of that assault.”

He also criticised the British Medical Association (BMA) telling its staff not to call pregnant women ‘expectant mothers’ because it could offend transgender people.

He said: “The BMA does not appear to care two hoots that rebranding motherhood in this way might actually be offensive to mothers generally, and to Christians in particular, along with all those who adhere to the norms which societies and cultures have adopted throughout human history.

“The BMA suggests that instead of expectant mothers we refer to ‘pregnant people’, again so as not to offend ‘intersex’ men and ‘transmen’ who may get pregnant.

“Thus we see both the BMA and the RAF succumbing to the agenda of the LGBT lobby…”

“It is God who has ordained – since the beginning of time – that human beings are divided in a fixed manner into male and female.

“The whole notion therefore of ‘gender fluidity’ is a rejection of the providence of God, and of the way in which He has made us in His infinite wisdom.

“It is precisely because our society has turned its back upon Christianity that the secularist transgender ideology is able to make such headway, aided and abetted by the liberal establishment, always looking for an opportunity to signal its virtue.”

Pastor Simpson has made headlines for his controversial comments in the past, from branding Halloween as “immoral” to slamming the United Reform Church to allow same sex marriages in its churches.
