Staff and pupils at a prep school in Gerrards Cross celebrated the opening of a new building this week.

“Delighted” parents and “excited” children from Gayhurst School, in Bull Lane, gathered at the entrance of the school’s new Reception building for the cutting of the ribbon and official opening.

Headmaster Gareth Davies opened the newly renovated and extended early years building on Monday (April 24) at the Bull Lane-based school.

Staff said as the children explored their new classrooms, parents enjoyed their first glimpse of the children’s new “spacious” learning environment.

Mr Davies said: “As the demand for places at Gayhurst has steadily increased, we have been busy developing the school to provide the very best facilities for our children.

“We were so pleased that the building works were completed on schedule so that we could open our new building for the summer term, in order that our current Reception children can enjoy this wonderful new space.

“The direct access to the outdoors from the classroom will enable children to maximise the use of the beautiful site that we have.”

Joan Terrar, head of Gayhurst’s junior school, said: “Our Reception classes were bursting at the seams and it is wonderful to be able to provide our children and their teachers with a top quality new facility.”
