Two south Bucks companies have been named among hundreds in the Queen’s Awards for Enterprise 2017.

The prestigious awards are given out to UK businesses for “outstanding achievement” in four categories – innovation, international trade, sustainable development and promoting opportunity through social mobility.

Global Infusion Group (GIG), based in Chesham, and Hypnos, based in Princes Risborough, were named as recipients in the international trade category.

This is the second time GIG has received the accolade in recognition of its international trade results which has seen the company, founded 33 years ago, expand into a global operation.

The company won its first Queen’s Award for Enterprise in 2014 for international performance and, since then, has grown overseas sales from events catering, food & beverage project management and brand support from £5.8 million in 2013 to £8.56 million in the year to December 2015 – a 48 per cent rise in two years.

As a result, it has been awarded the outstanding short term growth award in the Queen’s Award for International Trade.

Founder and CEO Tony Laurenson said: “This is another tremendous honour which recognises the fantastic efforts of all of our loyal and hard-working staff who have helped us to grow our client portfolio across the globe.

“It was amazing to win our first Queen’s award in 2014 and it inspired us to drive forward and build on that success rather than rest on our laurels.”

Hypnos, which has held a Royal Warrant since 1929, received the international trade award in recognition of its “substantial growth” and commercial success in international business, as well as “driving strong year-on-year growth” in overseas sales and export activity.

MD James Keen said: “It’s a true honour to receive such an accolade and we’re incredibly proud of this achievement and all the hard-work that’s been put in over the last few years.

“During this time we have focussed our attention on developing a global footprint and invested time and resources in securing a strong international position.

“It’s amazing to think how far we’ve come.”

Lucid Group Communications Ltd, in Loudwater, and Symply Pets Food Ltd, in Chesham, were also among the 102 businesses named in the international trade category.
