Baking queen, Mary Berry, officially opened a newly refurbished food technology room at a High Wycombe school last week.
The Bake Off star visited Godstowe Preparatory School, in Shrubbery Road, on Friday, May 19 to unveil ‘The Chef’s Kitchen’ - which was completely refurbished in April.
Mary – whose daughter attended Godstowe – met a group of Year 8 school monitors before cutting the ribbon at the new kitchen.
Following the grand opening the school held its very own “Godstowe Bake Off” which saw volunteers from each year group bake a Victoria Sponge, judged by Mary.
Year 4, Olivia Justice, won the top prize of a signed copy of the Penn Resident’s latest book, Mary Berry Everyday, and Year 5 pupil, Poppy Adams was named the runner up.
Headmaster, David Gainer, said: “It was a great honour to have Mary Berry visit Godstowe.
“She was wonderfully engaging and the girls thoroughly enjoyed meeting her. The Chef’s Kitchen, which wouldn’t have been possible without the generous funds raised by our parents, is a fantastic facility and the pupils at Godstowe are looking forward to using it for many years to come.”
The Chef's Kitchen was refurbished using money donated by the Friends of Godstowe.
