A Hazlemere pre-school had a double celebration after getting three ‘outstanding’ Ofsted inspections in a row, and marking its 40th anniversary.

Staff, pupils and parents at Manor Farm Pre-School, in Rose Avenue, celebrated the milestone achievement and landmark year at its annual sports day and summer fayre earlier this month, which raised almost £1,200 for the refit of the school’s new outdoor classroom.

Deputy leader Sue Innes said: "The weather was amazing and brought out loads of the community and, best of all, some old faces, both staff and pupils, from the last 40 years.

"There was a huge array of fun activities and it was lovely to see the fire brigade and police come and support us."

The school was rated ‘outstanding’ in its latest Ofsted report, where inspectors praised the effectiveness of the leadership and management, quality of teaching, learning and assessment, pupils’ personal development, behaviour and welfare, and outcomes for the children.

Staff were hailed for building “extremely trusting and respectful” relationships with parents, who were seen to be “fully involved” in their children’s learning at home and at school.

They were also lauded for supporting pupils with additional needs “exceptionally well”, with inspectors saying they created a “highly engaging” atmosphere for the children.

Leader Wendy Terry was also praised for ensuring that children’s safety and well-being were “central to all that staff do”, and for supporting and praising staff for what they do well, as well as providing “outstanding” support to help them identify where they could improve.

Inspectors noted that all children were developing into “capable and confident” young people under the “skilful guidance of committed and caring staff”. They said pupils played “happily” together, and that the pre-school was “full of happy and inquisitive children, keen to explore and highly motivated to learn”.

The pre-school was also rated ‘outstanding’ in its last two Ofsted reports, in December 2015 and June 2011.
