Travellers have set up camp on a popular playing field in West Wycombe.

Caravans and other vehicles were seen entering the Pedestal Playing fields, which is home to football team Downley Dynamos, at 9.15am today (Wednesday).

West Wycombe Parish Council said they had been moved on from the Car Boot field and police were told that they planned to stay until Sunday.

The parish council also said the travellers removed all three padlocks and one of the wooden bollards to gain entry on to the field, and are parked towards the back near the pavilion and play equipment.

In a statement on its website, the council said: “We can do no more until they have vacated. Downley Dynamos football club have also been advised.

“We cannot do anything until they leave, this means the Pedestal Playing Field may not be usable for a while as we usually have to clear up the mess they leave and repair any damage.”
