A Vietnamese restaurant is set to take over a popular café, which closed last month.

Husband and wife team Mr and Mrs Nguyen, from south Bucks, have taken over the lease the former Pips of Marlow, in Angler’s Court, which is believed to have closed around the week of August 21.

Sorbon Estates confirmed the café owners chose not to renew their lease.

Mr and Mrs Nguyen will now open their first independent restaurant, with the site currently undergoing a fit out to create an 880 sq ft restaurant, and make way for 41 covers.

Nhan Nguyen, who is from northern Vietnam but has lived in High Wycombe and Marlow since 2009, has worked in the restaurant industry for 10 years, helping to run family businesses in London.

Nhan said: “I grew up from a small fishing village where the food was one of my best childhood memories. The dishes were cooked by the simplest way, bursting with fragrance fresh herbs, hearty flavours.

“Being a part of Bucks’ community as well as Marlow’s for quite some time, I am so excited to introduce not only the taste but the culture of my homeland which I am so proud of.

“My team and I look forward to welcoming diners in early December.”

Chris Naylor, director of asset management at Sorbon Estates, said: “Marlow offers an eclectic dining scene with cuisines to tickle all taste buds and we are pleased to be bringing another independent restaurant to the high street.

“Mr and Mrs Nguyen have been in the restaurant business for many years and have recognised that Marlow is a town that supports local start-ups as the location for their first restaurant.”
