People left with old round pounds are being urged to drop them into a South Bucks Community Hospice shop to help patients with life-limiting conditions.

The hospice, based at Butterfly House in High Wycombe, will then be able to take them to the bank to raise much-needed funds. The old pound goes out of circulation this month.

The charity has shops in Hazlemere, Bourne End and Beaconsfield.

Community fundraiser Ben O'Keefe appealed to the public to back the hospice's '£1 Drop' campaign.

He said: "Very soon, these old pounds will no longer be legal tender. But if you give them to us now, we can ensure they are used to help support patients at Butterfly House.

"All you need to do is to drop in to one of our shops and hand it over to a staff member or volunteer."
