One of the men who died in a horror mid-air crash between a helicopter and plane was a Vietnamese national, police confirmed today.

Four men died after a helicopter and light aircraft collided over Upper Winchendon, near Waddesdon, on Friday.

Three of the men are believed to be British nationals and one has been named locally as Captain Michael Green, who was a senior instructor with Helicopter Services, based at Wycombe Air Park.

Police said they would be working closely with military support today (Sunday) with the aim of removing the aircraft from the woodland that it crashed in, and also confirmed the bodies of all the victims have now been recovered from the scene,

The victims’ post-mortem examination is expected to start today and last several days, with Thames Valley Police saying their identities will not be released before formal identification has taken place.

Superintendent Rebecca Mears, said: “Our thoughts remain with the families of the men who have tragically lost their lives.

“Specially-trained family liaison officers are continuing to offer their support to the families of the victims affected, three of whom we understand to be British nationals, one of whom is a Vietnamese national.

“Work will today focus on removing the aircraft from the scene which will be done with specialist support.

“I would like to reiterate my thanks to the local community for their understanding while the investigation is ongoing in the area.”
