Four deserving Bucks charities were handed thousands of pounds at a special Rotary club lunch this week.

Wycombe Homeless Connection, FOCUS at Saunderton Lodge, One Can Trust and Wycombe Women’s Aid were each awarded £2,000 by the Rotary Club of High Wycombe.

The generous donations, which have been raised by Rotarians at different fundraising events throughout the year, were accompanied by a special lunch at Adams Park on Tuesday afternoon.

Graham Evans, new president of the Rotary Club, said: “We have a great deal of fun organising events throughout the year and as a result of the fundraising efforts over the last few years, we are now in a position to be able to give some money to some well-deserving local charities.”

Mark Dykes, trustee at Wycombe Homeless Connection, who accepted the cheque for the charity, said: “Our work is funded by volunteers so every donation is greatly appreciated.

“Just recently, we were really pleased to have helped rehome someone who has been sleeping rough for eight years.

“We have managed to get him into a flat, which is great news, and donations like this will help us continue our work.”
