Temporary traffic lights are causing traffic chaos in and around Loudwater this morning.

Three-way traffic lights have been set up at the London Road and Station Road roundabout, but no work appears to be going on along the A40.

According to roadworks.org, Southern Electric is carrying out work on Derehams Lane to repair a high voltage mains fault.

Travel time is currently around 22 minutes, according to traffic links, with traffic queueing in all directions.

There are delays back to the M40 junction 3 slip road, Treadaway Hill and Gordon Road.

A frustrated driver said it took him over an hour to make a journey from the centre of High Wycombe to Holtspur - a drive that usually takes around 15 minutes.

He said: "There was traffic all the way back into High Wycombe and on the motorway slip road and the worst thing is, they are only doing work on Derehams Lane, a side road. It is ridiculous."

A statement from Bucks County Council suggested that the work will only be going on today.

Transport chief Cllr Mark Shaw said: "SSE were working on Derehams Lane, Loudwater, from Saturday (January 20) carrying out urgent works to locate a fault and make a repair to high voltage mains and restore power locally.

"The electrical works were completed before this morning but the traffic management was still in place so the road surface could be reinstated. The site is expected to be clear by the end of today when the road has been returned to normal."
