A yellow warning for snow has been issued for the county.
The Met Office said snow showers or longer periods of snow are expected all day on Tuesday and heavy snow showers on Wednesday next week, warning drivers of travel delays on roads with the potential for some stranded vehicles and passengers.
There could also be delays to rail and air travel, with some rural communities becoming cut off.
The weather service said power cuts could also occur and services such as mobile phones could be affected.
The warning is in place from 12.05am on Tuesday until 11.55 on Wednesday.
