A luxury women’s clothing brand has moved to Marlow permanently after signing a three-year contract.

Winser London, which opened a shop in the High Street in 2016 after a number of its online customers requested a pop-up store in the town, has opened a bigger premises in Spittal Street, owned by Sorbon Estates.

Torly Grimshawe, head of retail, said: “We are pleased to be opening in a larger unit at Spittal Street.

“Marlow is a fabulous shopping area where we already have a strong customer base who come regularly to try on our new styles.

“The move plays well to the timing of our fifth anniversary this year and gives us a reason to celebrate the next phase in the growth of the business.”

The busy shopping street is currently undergoing a major overhaul that has been in the pipeline for more than three years, which will include new paving and drainage channels, as well as wall-mounted LED lanterns to replace lamp posts in a bid to free up pavement space.

Chris Naylor, Sorbon Estates’ director of asset management, said: “Spittal Street has undergone substantial improvement over the past 18 months and we are pleased to have added to the vibrant mix of shops and restaurants with another high-quality offer from an independent retailer.

“Winser London is another concept that has proved successful after trialling in the town by entering into a pop-up arrangement with us.”

The news comes as a number of high profile retailers, including Costa Coffee, Wimpy, Thomas Cook, and independent shops such as Craft Coop, Italian food shop Bella Italia and Turners, have announced closures in recent years.
