A Marlow charity has been handed more than £1,500 from a supermarket giant after being chosen as its charity of the year.
The Riley Park Trust was given a cheque for £1,546 from Sainsbury’s, in West Street, by manager Scott Porteous, after the trust was nominated as the store’s charity of the year last year.
Trust Chairman Tony Shannon said: “The trust has had a long standing positive relationship with its near neighbour Sainsbury’s and is very grateful for all the support the store has offered the trust in different ways over many years.
“[The trust] receives no financial support from the public purse and so reliance on charitable donations of this kind are vital to the long term survival of this most valuable town facility.”
Riley Park Trust was set up in 1914 by Edward Riley with the aim to help the youth of the town “play safely off the streets”.
