MUGGERS robbed a pensioner in Gerrards Cross, stealing the engagement ring she had worn since she was 16.

The 80-year-old woman, who has been left shocked and bruised, was attacked at around 6pm as she walked through an alleyway between Packhorse Road and South Park Avenue on August 9.

She was grabbed from behind by two men who then forced her to hand over the engagement ring as well as a the watch she was wearing. They also took her handbag.

Police say the pensioner has been left so traumatised by the robbery she is now too frightened and upset to leave her home.

The attack was so callous it left her with severely bruised arms and a swollen face.

She is said to be devastated by the loss of her engagement ring, which she had never taken off since she was given it.

Det Con Jenny Chapman of Aylesbury CID, said: "This was a spiteful and cowardly attack on a frail, helpless lady, and I would urge anyone who saw any suspicious people or cars in the area around the time of the attack to contact me."

At least one of the attackers is a large black man who was wearing dark clothing.
